I don'know the history of this video but this is exactly what a decompensated schizophrenic sounds like. Ask anyone in law enforcement or anyone who's worked in an Emergency Room. This is all too familiar
beat writers ginsberg and kerouac once tried to do something like listener on film. they wanted to shock people into paying attention to the words of their musings. listener's music in my opinion doesn't so much help convey the meaning of dan smith's poems as get in the way of them. i think i understand what they're trying to do, it just doesn't work for me.
also, from personal family experience, anonymous @ 4:49 pm's comment is spot on. is that an "effect" listener is consciously employing? i hope not. if you've ever heard the disturbed rants of a schizophrenic in crisis, it's very unsettling...very sad...filled w/ pain and angst. cheers!
yes done for effect of course. this guy is a John Brown University graduate and used his rap/poetry/music whatever band as a ministry. believe it or not. :)
